Carol Fenstermacher, APR, receives 2026 William W. Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award

Throughout her career, Carol Fenstermacher, APR, has combined communications expertise with a commitment to mentoring others, strengthening the public relations profession and serving her community.

PRSA Oregon is recognizing that career-long contribution with this year’s William W. Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award honors an outstanding PRSA Oregon member whose work has significantly advanced the public relations profession, achieved landmark professional accomplishments or furthered the goals of PRSA.

Fenstermacher's career has included high-stakes executive leadership across public, nonprofit and educational organizations. Colleagues credit her with bringing a thoughtful, steady approach to challenging situations while maintaining a strong commitment to professional ethics and service.

Mentoring and developing other communications professionals has been a defining part of her career. In 2025, she received PRSA Oregon’s Olga M. Haley Mentorship Award, recognizing her dedication to helping others grow. She continues that work through her service as the chapter’s advancement director and as a two-term treasurer.

Her leadership in the profession extends well beyond PRSA Oregon. Fenstermacher has served as president and held other leadership positions with the National School Public Relations Association, Women in Communications Inc. and the Oregon and Washington School Public Relations Associations.

She has also carried that spirit of service into the broader community, including volunteer work with Evergreen Habitat For Humanity and the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization.

Across her professional and volunteer roles, colleagues describe Fenstermacher as dedicated, positive and welcoming. They point to her thoughtfulness, calm approach to problem-solving and willingness to help others as qualities that have made her a trusted leader and mentor.

Her career reflects a sustained commitment not only to the practice of public relations, but to the people and professional communities that make the field stronger.
