About this Event
Across our country, leaders are working within their organizations and their communities to dismantle structural racism — and communicators are often at the forefront of that work. But where do we start? What does that look like?
PRSA Oregon’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee invites you to “Deconstructing workplace policies to advance equity,” featuring Kat Hendrix, J.D., statewide partnerships manager at Oregon Child Abuse Solutions. Kat will share her experiences in changing workplace policies and guide participants in an interactive session to help transform policies to advance racial equity.
In this session, participants will:
- Learn to identify harmful, historical white supremacy structures in the workplace.
- Understand what it means to deconstruct white supremacy policies and co-create policies that are rooted in racial equity.
- Have an opportunity to put your learnings into practice through interactive breakout sessions. Participants can submit a company policy to be considered in the breakout session by emailing [email protected] (Examples used in the session will have company names redacted.)
As a primer to the session, we encourage attendees to read this article by Temun Okun on white supremacy culture.
