“Ethics in Journalism” — Like a Boss Coffee Chat Series Event

From social media to late-breaking stories to claims of “fake news” and the search for credible sources, these are exciting, challenging and unusual times in journalism. A.wordsmith and PRSA Oregon are proud to team up for our September “Like a Boss” Coffee Chat on media ethics and engagement. Our conversation will dive into newsroom processes, how digital content can be a friend and a foe, and the pressures reporters are under to uncover and present great stories, while maintaining their editorial integrity.

We are excited to welcome three respected local journalists to our panel:

Malia Spencer, reporter with the Portland Business Journal, covering technology, startups and entrepreneurs

Heidi Williams, currently leading Portland State University’s social media presence; previously at the Oregonian where she worked for 17 years leading digital operations and social media teams

Lucinda Kay, news anchor at KXL, communications coach and international humanitarian

Dan Cook, contributing analyst for NewsGuard Technologies where he reviews online news sites for transparency, credibility and content

Please make plans to join us for a great conversation that will be sure to leave you feeling informed and inspired. RSVP to Hannah at hannah@awordsmithcomm.com to save your seat!
